"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit."

Psalm 34:18

Remembering Pastor Doug

Our dear brother, good friend, and beloved child of our King, Pastor Doug Carlsen, passed away on Wednesday, January 8th. While our hearts are heavy, we remain steadfast in the hope our Lord Jesus provides.
A memorial service will be held at Colorado Community Church on Saturday, February 15th at 10:00am in our Worship Center. A light reception will follow the service.

The service will also be live-streamed on this page.
Pastor Doug's family has set up a Caring Bridge site where you can receive updates on his sister Sonja's recovery. There is also a way that we can support them by donating Visa gift cards to help cover food and gas during this time. If you would like to help care for them in this way, please click on the "Donate a Visa Gift Card" button below. On the Caring Bridge site, put this email (clarygirl15@gmail.com) into the "Recipient's Email" box to send the gift card directly to the family.
A Word from the Carlsen Family:
We want to thank you for your prayers at this very sad time. We are grieving the sudden loss of Doug, our beloved son, brother, uncle and friend.  He was an incredible man who touched thousands of lives and impacted God’s Kingdom in many ways. His absence leaves a huge hole.  We take great comfort in knowing he is with Jesus and our dad.
On the same day we learned of Doug’s passing, we also got news that our younger sister, Sonja, who lives in Omaha, has brain cancer. Sonja underwent extensive surgery last Tuesday (1/14) to remove 80 percent of a large glioblastoma that was pressing on her frontal lobes. She is in the ICU and facing a long road to recovery.
The two events happening simultaneously has been very challenging for us as a family. We would greatly appreciate your patience and your prayers as we continue to process all that is going on. We are thankful for God’s comforting presence and protection, and to all those in the body of Christ that are lifting us up.
