INTRODUCE: What is the most sacrificial thing that someone has done for you?

PRAYER: Begin the time by praying together

DISCUSS:

1. In what ways are you a servant to those around you and wash their feet, in a figurative way?
2. What kinds of things do you think we do that betray Jesus?
3. Read John 13:34-35. How do you show love to others as Jesus did? Who do you recognize as the “others” to whom you show love? Are they people like you, other Christians, people with dramatically different opinions than you have, etc?
4. Share about a time when you could say that you “fell asleep” rather than doing what Jesus was asking you to do.
5. Jesus specifically asked God three times to “let this cup pass from him” and yet, God did not grant that request. How do you feel and respond when God’s answer to your prayer is His will being done and not that for which you asked?
6. How have you been a light to those around you in the darkness of these times?
7. How would you have responded if you “were there when they crucified my Lord?” Do you feel like you were there?

PRAY:
Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against You in thought word and deed, by what we have done and what we have left undone. We have not loved You with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in Your will and walk in Your ways to the glory of Your Name. Amen.
