INTRODUCE: What is the most beautiful thing you have ever seen?

READ: Mark 8:34-35, Philippians 3:10, I Peter 2:21

PRAYER: Begin the time by praying together

DISCUSS:

1. How do you think the cross of Christ represents goodness, truth, and beauty?

2. Why is it strange to think of the cross as a gift? That is, is it hard not just seeing the gift of forgiveness we receive from Christ’s work on the cross, but also the gift of the call to suffering hardship that the cross represents?

3. What if Jesus is asking you into his heart? What are the implications of this?

4. What area of your life are you having a hard time molding into the shape of Jesus? (e.g.Your wallet? Time? Heart? Soul? Mind?)

5. Are you in the crowd surrounding Jesus or are you a disciple of Christ? What are the key differences between these two?

6. How are you tempted to “crowd please,” in order to soften the message of Jesus? In what areas do you see the church tempted in this way?

7. The cross of Jesus as a way of life…what does that mean to you?

PRAY:
Lord, thank you for the gift of the cross…for giving me the cross as a way of life. Don’t let me just be in the crowd of those around you; help me to be your disciple, growing close to you, and molding my life after you.

Share one need for which you would like prayer today.
Take time to pray for one person at a time
Invite the Holy Spirit to guide your time
Listen to the Lord for guidance in how to pray for one another….and then pray
